In 1889, an Italian baker named Rafaele Esposito created the first pizza to welcome Queen Margherita to Naples, Italy. He used ripe tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and a touch of basil. He named his pie the "Margherita" and it caused a sensation!
To make our Margherita Pizza, we use a specially-crafted Neapolitan dough, San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and imported extra virgin olive oil. The result is a pizza like no other in Elizabeth City. In fact, it's more like what you would find if you went to Italy for pizza.
